Location: Primary Alternative Provision
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Required Certification: Positive Handling or Team Teach

The primary Alternative Provision is dedicated to providing tailored support and education for students with SEN. They believe in fostering an environment where every child can thrive, regardless of their individual needs or challenges. The team is passionate, dedicated, and committed to making a difference in the lives of their students.

The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of primary students with SEN. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with various SEN, including complex behavioural needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering tailored lessons and activities to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Implementing behavior management strategies effectively, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborating with other members of the team, including SENCOs and therapists, to ensure holistic support for students.
  • Monitoring and tracking student progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO as needed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable.
  • Hold a valid Positive Handling or Team Teach certificate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and use your initiative when required.
