At Tradewind in Bristol, we are looking to recruit a support worker with Autism experience for a SEN school in Bristol. Our client is a large SEN school within easy reach from Chepstow, Pathcway, Filton and Yate.

-Autism experience
-Teaching assistant or support work experience within a SEN school or a care setting
-A genuine in Autism and Aspergers
-Use of MAKATON and PECS
-Ability to foresee, manage and deescalate challenging behaviour within lines of school behaviour policy and report on behaviour changes effectively

The roles are part and fulltime and between school hours. Working hours are 0830-1630 Monday to Friday. This established SEN school require the right candidate to support their learners with identified Autism to aid them in their emotional and academic development through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and by creating a safe learning environment. Pupils are Secondary aged and it ranges from 11-16+.

Role of the support staff involves supporting the learners in a group setting inside and outside classroom. There might be times where support might take place during break times depending on the level of behaviour and communication needs of the learners. It also involves guiding the student emotionally and behaviorally at times of stress and helping them to overcome their barriers to social interaction and mobility. There is great support given in regards to training and guidance from the school.

To join us and be successful in this Autism Support worker role you will need to:
* Have experience of working with young people or young adults in line with Autism at a school, respite or care setting.
Makaton and PECS training is ideal but not necessary for the right experience in other related settings
* This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
* Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
