Tradewind Recruitment Birmingham have the opportunity to recruit for a Behaviour Mentor/Teaching Assistant within the Birmingham area. The role is full time on a temporary contract to permanent basis, for 1 full academic year.
The role is working 121 with a pupil with moderate challenging behaviour and SEMH difficulties. The mentor will follow a bespoke timetable and will build positive relationships with the pupil to promote interaction and a constructive learning environment as well as assist the class teacher and other education staff with learning activities. The school has provided a support for lunch period to allow for a restful break.

The successful candidate will be confident delivering a core curriculum for a KS2 and be a positive and engaging role model for the pupil. They will have a thorough knowledge of SEND and a holistic/therapeutic approach to education as well as having confidence when dealing with challenging bbehaviour.

Specialist behaviour mentors will work closely with SLT to form behaviour policies post COVID-19 and will look at safe approaches to behaviour deescalation techniques.

There are many progression pathways at this school and the SLT want to invest in all the staff's long term future and professional growth.

The school is a local authority school based in the heart of Birmingham City and provides excellent transport links to the rest of the city and county. The school offers a therapeutic, calming and innovative environment for the primary (KS1/KS2) pupils to attend.

The ideal candidate will be:

* Level 3 qualified
* Experienced supporting school pupils or young people
* Knowledgeable about supporting vulnerable pupils with SEBD and SEMH
* Available from Aug/Sept with a DBS on the update service
* Able to commit long term to the school and pupils for continuity
* Team Teach/MAPA trained
* Counselling/Psychology background a bonus
