Tradewind Preston are working in partnership with a large, two form entry Primary School to recruit a Bi-lingual Teaching Assistant to support a variety of EAL pupils. You must be fluent in English, Gujarati and Urdu.

The school is a larger than average two form entry Primary School with over 350 pupils on roll. Many of the pupils attend school from the surrounding area and there is a high proportion of children for whom English is an additional language, most of whom speak Gujarati and Urdu.

Staff in school work closely together as a team to ensure the pupils receive the best possible education. The school has high expectations for all the pupils and strives to ensure all pupils achieve their full potential across the National Curriculum. The school believes that learning should be enjoyable and that children are happy when gaining success in a secure and reassuring environment.

The Head Teacher values the importance role that parents play and encourages an effective home school relationship. The focus is always to help children become self-confident and independent individuals who respect all members of school community and recognise their growing responsibilities as citizens.

The ideal candidate for this role will have had a minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Level 2 Teaching assistant, excellent classroom-based references are essential for this role. You must be fluent in English, Urdu, Gujarati and have a C or above in English and Maths. In addition, a proven track record of raising pupil attainment is highly sought after.

The successful candidate must be able to work on own initiative and as part of team, including being able to participate with the wider community of the school.

This full time role includes working across school supporting EAL pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis. This role is based around raising pupil attainment in Reading, Writing and Speech. The role is to start immediately and run through until January 2019, after this point there is a high possibility that the school will offer a perm contract.

The school is located close to Blackburn town centre and is accessible from a range of transport links including Junction 3 and 4 of the M65, ten-minute walk from Blackburn train station.
