Tradewind is recruiting for a Communication Support Worker with BSL!

Are you looking for a new challenge?

Do you love helping students with Hearing Impairment, develop and learn?

Do you have a British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above?

About the role:

  • Communication Support Worker with BSL L2 or above.
  • Start date ASAP.
  • Full time and long term.
  • Pay up to £75 per day.
  • Supporting a post-16 student on a 1:1 basis with Hearing Impairment (HI).
  • Helping student understand and engage with the lesson.
  • Support teacher with differentiation of work for the student and help tailor towards their specific needs.
  • Assess, monitor and feedback on student progress.

  • Post 16 Further Education setting.
  • Rated GOOD by Ofsted in all areas. The college leaders have an ambitious offering to meet the needs of all their students including a prominent Inclusion department.
  • Large college with multiple sites.
  • Located in south Manchester with excellent transport links.


About the pupil:

  • Pupil has Hearing Impairment and uses a cochlear implant which provides moderate improvement in sense of sound.
  • Some level of anxiety around lack of understanding or being able to communicate can sometimes display in challenging behaviour.
  • However student understands and communicates effectively most of the time using BSL and will respond to this.
