Would you like to work within your borough as a Cover Supervisor, full time or part time? As a cover supervisor your main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. Cover supervision is needed for a teacher's short-term absence from the classroom where the absence was not known about in advance. Pupils in these classes will carry out a pre-prepared exercise under supervision; no active teaching takes place, responding to any questions that pupils might have about the process. Cover supervisors are suitably-trained school staff who supervise pupils carrying out pre-prepared exercises when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set. What's involved? Cover supervision varies significantly depending on whether the role is undertaken in a primary, secondary or special school. Existing staff who are asked to undertake cover supervision should be given the option of taking it on as a role in itself or as part of a role.
