EAL Teaching Assistant

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a progressive, high achieving Secondary School in Harrow who are looking for a confident, personable and talented Teaching Assistant to join their EAL department. This is a full time role that will commence in the Summer Term, and run through until the end of the academic year in the first instance, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role for the right candidate.

As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting and facilitating successful student learning in classes and interventions across the curriculum in Key Stages 3 and 4. Your responsibilities will include:

• Support EAL students in the classroom, promoting participation and pushing them outside of their comfort zone when necessary
• Planning and delivering individual / small group intervention sessions focusing on literacy and phonics to new EAL students
• To plan and assess lessons for functional skills in English to EAL students
• Complete, monitor and receive EAL profiles and monitor progress, implementing change where necessary

To be successful in this EAL Teaching Assistant role, you will:

• Hold a recent Bachelors degree, ideally within an English Discipline
• Have some prior experience working with and supporting young people
• Be a confident, approachable and inspiring individual who can build successful relationships with students and staff
• Be intrinsically motivated and also work well within a team setting
• Candidates who speak Arabic or Romanian will be highly regarded.

Located in North Harrow, this Secondary School is very well serviced by public transport, and parking is available for those who drive. This School is easily reached from all areas of North, West and Central London as well as the bordering Home Counties.
