Tradewind Recruitment are working exclusively in partnership with an independent Jewish preparatory school in the Westminster area, who are looking to recruit a Head of English from September 2019. The role will involve leading English across the school as well as teaching an upper Key Stage 2 class, with a roughly 50-60% teaching timetable.

Not only is the prospective Head of English guardian of the broad, challenging English curriculum, but they serve as a guide and model for every teacher of English from Reception to Year 6.

Although a primary setting, due to the English specialism element of this role, the school are open to receiving applications from primary or secondary English trained teachers.

This Jewish preparatory school seeks to imbue its' students with a love of learning of both secular and Jewish studies, with 25% of pupil timetable dedicated to Jewish studies. This is achieved through the support they give each individual pupil and taking into account the religious beliefs they value in every decision one makes. This is a small and family friendly school whose success is based on the teamwork of all teaching and support staff. The school has a one form entry and roll of 175 girls and boys aged 2-11.

The role of the teacher is central to the success of any school where teaching and learning is the primary focus. Furthermore, in addition to the small class sizes, they also expect teachers to provide differentiated support for all pupils in their class, challenging and stimulating them in all that they do.

This Head of English and KS2 Teacher role will involve the following responsibilities:

*Take responsibility for leading
*Regularly liaise with Director of Studies on curriculum development and pupil progress within English across the school
*Plan, prepare and teach stimulating lessons to an upper Key Stage 2 class, according to the educational needs of assigned pupils, including the setting and marking of both class work and homework
*Maintain a positive learning environment through classroom management among the pupils and safeguarding their health and safety
*Preparation of pupils for secondary school and selective school examinations
*Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of pupils, as well as on their personal and social needs

Benefits of working at this school:
*Class sizes are small (around 16 pupils) and with a favourable ratio of teachers to children - as little as 1:5 depending on age and need - the school's programmes of learning have the flexibility for differentiation.
*The school offers a warm, nurturing atmosphere that develops self-confidence in their children, prepares them for the challenges ahead whilst never forgetting that childhood is a stage of life rather than a waiting room for adulthood.
*The curriculum offers the balance of an enriched secular education and a most comprehensive and fulfilling Jewish Studies programme of learning.
*The parents are extremely supportive of the school and this vital partnership is most important to the success of the child.

Location:
The school is based in Maida Vale, North West Central London, with easy access via Bakerloo and Overground lines, and within 15 minutes of Oxford Circus and Baker Street stations.
