This high-achieving single sex Academy in St Albans are looking for a Geography teacher to start in September, teaching Geography to KS5 through to the end of the academic year, with a permanent contract available for the right teacher.

This popular boys' school is part of a highly successful consortium where all schools achieve above average attainment from their pupils, with most continuing to sixth form and many going on to elite universities. It is heavily oversubscribed, with an excellent reputation in the local community and a rapidly increasing 16-19 cohort. In their last Ofsted report (2018), the school achieved "Good" status with pupil behaviour, teaching and learning and post-GCSE provision cited as particular strengths.

As a Geography teacher you will be required to engage and encourage pupils throughout Key Stages 3, 4 and 5in a highly academic, ambitious learning environment, and it is an advantage if you can also offer another Humanities subject at KS3. There is also the opportunity to contribute to Geography's extra-curricular profile in the school with clubs, trips and events.

The school would like to receive applications from

-Teachers with experience of teaching Geography in the UK (ideally) but they will also consider applicants from overseas
-Teachers with strong curriculum knowledge of the GCSE Geography course
-Capable and motivational teachers able to engage classrooms and meet high expectations for pupil progress and attainment
-Reflective practitioners who are keen to improve their teaching strategies and collaborate with professionals from across the consortium in order to raise standards across the board, particularly in terms of 16-19 provision

The school boasts modern, spacious facilities, including a recent purpose-built Sixth Form area, and a strong Humanities department who are supportive and motivated, as well as a recently appointed headteacher who has overseen dramatic improvement across all areas of Ofsted assessment. CPD provision here is very strong with good practice shared across the consortium, which also regularly hosts PGCE placements and offers excellent support and training for NQTs. The school is based in St Albans and has onsite parking with easy access to the M1 and M25, as well as convenient public transport links to St Albans, Watford, Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead.

In order to be considered for this Geography Teacher position you will need:
* QTS status or equivalent (overseas teachers will be considered with appropriate NARIC certification)
* Enhanced DBS or Overseas Police Checks if necessary
* An updated CV, covering the last 10 years of employment, with 2 recent references
* A legal right to work in the UK (We are not able to offer sponsorship for this role)
