Are you interested in leading a supportive and collaborative Department in one of Luton's most diverse and progressive schools?

Under the direction of the schools Head Teacher (appointed sept 16) this school has made huge steps forward and they are now looking to appoint a Head of Art to start in September and work on a full time basis for the full academic year, with a permanent contract to be offered if a good start is made.

The school is a well-lit, purpose built, modern building with superb facilities. Staff and students benefit from the specialist equipment, pragmatic SLT and a unified teaching team. The school are also well known for promoting talented and committed staff members as the Head continues to build a strong staffing network committed to the schools progression and long term goals.

We are looking for
*Extensive experience of teaching Art in the UK
*In-depth curriculum knowledge at both GCSE and A-Level
*Experience of department leadership, pastoral leadership or curriculum/assessment planning.

You will be responsible for teaching up to KS5 on a reduced timetable to allow for department management duties, in a department composed of 3 experienced teachers who know the school and their students well. The curriculum currently focuses on traditional art mediums, so no specialist technical skills are required outside of perhaps some knowledge of Photography, but should you have a passion for an alternative medium, as Head of Department you will have the freedom to introduce this.

Based within a short drive of Junction 11 on the M1 and with staff parking and good transport links to main bus and train links.

These range from escape rooms, exercise classes, trips out, dry cleaning services for staff and much more and have created a strong team spirit and supportive work atmosphere across both secondary schools.

To join this successful and integral department in September you will need to:

Hold QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
You will be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure, overseas police clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
