Running for over 5 years, this Hearing-Impaired Provision is extremely well resourced to meet students individual learning needs. Students attend classes alongside hearing peers in mainstream subject classes, whilst still being supported by specialist staff in and out of the classroom.

The school has over 1000 pupils but the hearing provision itself caters for around 10 students, allowing teachers and support staff to provide individualised and person-centred support. This post would suit a teacher keen to work on a 1:1 basis, providing holistic support for students to integrate into a mainstream education setting, developing students' resilience, confidence and social skills.

The school follows an auditory oral approach, with sign supported English used only occasionally. Almost all students are equipped with hearing aid, FM systems and audiological equipment. Auditory oral communication requires pupils to use their residual hearing to understand and communicate using spoken language. The benefits of such an approach are numerous, supporting people with hearing impairments to communicate with family in their native language, interact with the general population without the use of an interpreter, and enable greater employment opportunities in the future.

The Teacher would:
*Work in a well-equipped Hearing Impairment Provision with a specialist team using an auditory oral approach
*Support students on an individual and group level
*Facilitate morning registration sessions to work towards students' individual speech and language targets
*Run tutorials for hearing impaired pupils to consolidate and complete work
*Support Hearing Impaired students to successfully learn and grow in a mainstream school environment, building confidence and essential life skills
*Encourage students to develop a positive self-identity and to be confident about expressing themselves and their needs.
*Support pupils to be responsible for their equipment and how to manage it and maintain it effectively

The school has:
*Deaf Awareness promotion in place throughout the school community
*A purpose-built Hearing-Impaired Provision with high spec design
*New school buildings with acoustic design elements throughout
*Communication technology such as soundfield systems in most teaching rooms and FM systems for pupils
*Late Clubs where Hearing Impaired pupils can receive extra support after school 4 nights per week
*Training opportunities for staff to develop their understanding and support strategies for hearing impaired pupils
*Been rated OFSTED Good
*High aspirations for all pupils
