We are currently looking for strong learning facilitator/mentor or a strong secondary Teaching Assistant to work in a lovely Secondary mainstream Academy in the Swindon area from September 2021. Our client school requires an additional Learning facilitator/Mentor to help support the Hub Team to provide pastoral support in a variety of ways. The students that you will be supporting/mentoring will be mixed ability, some with special educational needs, so the successful Learning Mentor will have to have experience adapting to each student's needs. This role is starting in September on a long term basis 5 days a week, this could lead to permanent contract for the right individual.

Our client school has a dedicated team of non-teaching pastoral and SEN staff that work with SLT and teachers to support pupils and this enables the school to have a 98% record of homework completion with centralised detentions for non-completion. They also have an amazing varied extra-curricular programme which helps our students grow and develop into rounded individuals
The successful candidate will:
- Support Home Study - homework system;
- Support the use of online learning using Apps and learning platforms for Home Study completion;
- Provide mentoring support for targeted students;
- Support the administration of the school's rewards policy;
- Provide support for the school community;
This role is working Monday - Friday, term time only, 8:00-17:00 with 30mins lunch break.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent communication skills and be able to build good relationships with young people and adults
- Strong IT skills with the ability to positively respond to training in the use of school IT package
- An ability to convey authority and earn students respect, with the ability to make good decisions really fast.
- An ability to listen to students so that they feel they have been dealt with consistently and fairly
- The ability to show initiative whilst knowing when to take advice
- Good judgement over matters of confidentiality and integrity in dealing with sensitive information about students.
Other requirements:
- Educated to A Level or Degree level
- Sound literacy and numeracy, GCSE in English and Maths at Grade C or above
- Some previous experience of working with young people is desirable
- Some understanding of how students learn or teaching experience is desirable

To join us and be successful in this Learning Mentor role you will need:
- Over 6 months experience of working with young people.
- This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
- Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
- You must have the legal right to work in the UK
