• Special needs assistant to work with a child in Year 1

The role will involve working on a 1:1 basis with a boy in Year 1 with Autism (ASC). You will be working closely together during the day, usually in the classroom and with some time spent in a quieter area, when required.

He is a likeable and popular boy who can sometimes have challenging behaviour when he gets frustrated, so time will be spent helping him with ideas and strategies to cope with trickier situations, which will need to be revisited regularly.

He responds well to someone calm and confident but especially someone who is consistent in their approach. He enjoys being rewarded for positive behaviour and enjoys lots of praise, when deserved.

This is a full-time role, term time only to start in September.

Essential requirements to be considered for this 1:1 Teaching Assistant role:

• Have experience working with children with Autism (ASC)
• Have a calm, nurturing approach, but consistent with expectations of behaviour
• This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
• Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
• You must have the legal right to work in the UK
