Primary Mentor - Bedford

Do you have experience working with children and would like to support pupils in a primary school as a 1:1 mentor?

Tradewind is currently working with several mainstream Primary School's across Bedfordshire who require full‐time members of staff to join their team when they return on a full-time basis!

***Competitive rate of pay (£70 to £80 per day).

***Long-term position with the potential to go permanent.

***Supportive consultant to help with the transition into a new role.

As a mentor in a primary school, you will be required to support and work with pupils on a 1:1 basis. You will be responsible for tracking attendance, monitoring behaviour and helping pupils access the curriculum. A lot of the children you will work with are vulnerable and display challenging behaviour. You may also be required to take small groups out of the classroom, deliver a short lesson set by the teacher and provide other activities throughout the day.

These positions are suitable but not limited to candidates who have worked in one of the following areas: Mentoring programmes, youth centres, sports coaching and 1:1 tutoring with SEN pupils.

Criteria:

  • Excellent behaviour management
  • Able to inspire, motivate and work closely with pupils to keep them on track
  • Courses related to working with children (highly desirable)
  • Good understanding of SEMH difficulties, ADHD and other learning difficulties
  • Min 3 months experience working with children in the last 2 years
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or worked in similar environments
  • Available full-time as soon schools fully re-open
  • Can commit on a long-term basis (pupils need consistency!)
  • Passionate about making a difference and supporting children who need positive role models
