Tradewind Recruitment is working with a good primary school based in Sparkhill who are recruiting for a 1-1 support staff to support a pupil in year 2 with Autism and Language difficulties.

The Head Teacher of this wonderful and oversubscribed school in the heart of South Birmingham are keen to appoint an experienced teaching assistant to work with a year 2 pupil with Autism. The role requires you to have confidence, clear commutation skills as well as a nurturing approach. You must be committed for the academic year and demonstrate an interest in developing your career in education whether this be becoming a Teacher or further growing as an important figure within the school.

You will be working with a pupil in year 2 who has Autism and Language difficulties. The pupil is low functioning with global delay. You will be supporting the pupil on a 1:1. providing literacy and numeracy interventions both in and out of the classroom setting. Use of visual aids such as PECS are used to help aid communication with the pupil along with regular visits from the Speech and Language therapists.

The pupil has their own file of work, included in this is the Educational Healthcare Plan as long side a diary of their day to day routine. You as a Teaching Assistant will be fully supported throughout your time at the school with the aid of the senior leadership team and the classroom Teacher and Teaching Assistant.

The role will involve

*1-1 support for a year 2 pupil with Autism and Language difficulties.
*Work alongside the KS1 team to plan and prepare engaging, fun sessions for small groups of learners that need additional support
*Competent to deliver PEC's and speech interventions.

The teaching assistant roles are full time, 5 days' week and will be due to start in March 2019 to continue for the full academic year.

you must;

*Have previous experience working in a primary school setting.
*Be a team player - this role requires someone who works well with teachers, pupils and parents
*Demonstrate commitment, dedication and resilience in your previous childcare work
*have an ability to manage sometimes challenging behaviour
*Ideally you will be local to Sparkhill
