Tradewind are proud to be recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant at special school in south Manchester!

I am delighted to be working with a fantastic, OFSTED 'Outstanding' secondary special school in south Manchester, who are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to start ASAP on a full time and long term basis with the potential to turn permanent. Pay up to £75/day.

You will be required to deliver personal care and Moving & Handling support to a young person in KS4 on a 1:1 basis. He has Autism and Profound and Multiple Learning Needs (PMLD) including physical needs, sensory needs, very low cognitive ability and speech & language communication needs. While there is a large element of care involved the school has high expectations on what each pupil can achieve in terms of personal development and learning progress so you will also be required to support the class teacher with implementing any activities and lessons. Ideally you will have some prior experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant although people from other backgrounds in care will also be considered.

About the school:

  • Special school & college for young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and severe Autism (ASC).

About the pupils:

  • Pupils are aged 11-19 and have an EHCP for SEN with including Severe, Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Autism (ASC).
  • Pupils are both verbal or non-verbal so some will need support with Speech & Language and often use PECS or Makaton to communicate.
  • Many pupils require wheelchair or hoist support and therefore training or experience in Moving & Handling is ideal.
  • Many pupils have physical needs and will require Personal Care.
  • Staff promote independence, enthusiasm for learning, confidence and courage in their pupils and this is the basis on which pupils are able to achieve.
