Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a strong, versatile SENCO to promote Special Education Needs and inclusive learning within a "Good" rated Secondary School in High Wycombe. The role would start in September and could be made into a permanent appointment for the successful applicant.

As the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator), you'll be responsible for some of the most challenging pupils in a school however the challenge at this setting comes more from multiple learning difficulties (as opposed to behavioural difficulties).

1.- Communication and Interaction
2.- Cognition and Learning
3.- Social, Mental and Emotional Health
4.- Sensory or Physical
You'll not only need a lot of patience, alongside the plethora of skills already required of a teacher, but you'll need to have a drive for education and those with different needs. It would be desirable if you've completed, or would be willing to complete while on the job (where possible), the National Award for Special Educational Needs. Other training, such as counselling, child protection and behaviour, can also be very useful for a job such as this.
Working with fellow teachers and staff, the key responsibilities of this kind of role include:
* Overseeing the day-to-day operation of a school's special education policy
* Co-ordinating provision of policies
** Communicating with parents of children with special educational needs
You'll also work with external agencies including the Local Education Authority's support and psychological services, health and social services and potentially some voluntary organisations.

The school has undergone a positive change over the last 3 years since the internal appointment of their new Headteacher, who knows the school well. Staff morale is high and with the completed new 6th form block the school are fully focused on an 'Outstanding' from their next Ofsted.
