Tradewind Recruitment are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of English to join a lively, successful and supportive academy in Bromley. In return for dedication and new ideas, the school will provide a stimulating working environment for an NQT or experienced Teaccher of English in which the career of the successful applicant will develop rapidly. The post will begin in April 2021 and will be a permanent, full-time role.

The successful Teacher of English will have opportunities to teach across the age and ability range and to contribute to extra-curricular activities. The English department is very well resourced.

This is a popular and successful school, and the curriculum area is a very strong and well-led team of specialist English teachers, who revel in the world of Literature and Language and generate excellent results. In 2019, 79% of students achieved a 4+ and 60% achieved a 5+ in English at GCSE. They are committed to maintaining an ethos of high expectations and supporting staff and students to achieve their potential.

The successful Teacher of English will have responsibility for the teaching of English and English Literature at KS3 and KS4. You will form part of a team of dedicated and committed staff that facilitate strong student outcomes at both KS3 and at GCSE. You will have strong pedagogical skills, as well as a clear focus on raising attainment. A keen environmental awareness is a key aspect of the role, as is the ability to explore every opportunity to apply learning across the beautiful Kent countryside.

This is an 11-16 school with a rigorous academic curriculum, also incorporating extensive opportunities for outdoor learning work experience.

To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Hold QTS status or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Be a Teacher of English with excellent knowledge of the curriculum.
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
  • You must have the legal right to work in the UK.
