Tradewind are currently working in partnership with an Alternative Provision in Blackpool to recruit a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to join them in March 2019. This position is expected to continue until July 2019 and has the potential to go permanent.

This Secondary Alternative Provision are keen to meet a behaviour support specialist who will work directly with pupils with challenging behaviour in a number of setting working in small groups, one to one, classroom support and offsite situations. The behaviour support assistant will lead the promotion of strategies to encourage positive attitudes and behaviour. Whiles working as the behaviour support assistant you will report to the Assistant Headteacher and work alongside the attendance manager.

The Secondary Alternative Provision aims to provide the highest standards of teaching and learning so that all children can achieve their academic potential. The Secondary Alternative Provision ensure that they foster and develop the social and emotional well-being of their pupils as well as concentrating on developing the potential of their staff.

The school is based in Blackpool and extremely close to motorway links. Alternatively, if you are travelling by public transport, there is a bus stop in walking distance.

For this role you will need:
*A commitment to raising standards for all young people
*Experience of working successfully with young people with challenging behaviour, between
*the ages of 11‐ 16.
*A good understanding of the challenges that young people face in society today and the
*geographical factors affecting Blackpool in particular.
*A well-developed understanding of strategies to manage and support young people with
*challenging behaviour in a school environment.
*Proven ability to manage and motivate young people of all abilities.
*Proven ability to communicate effectively with adults and young people including through
*written and verbal communication.
*Ability to work sympathetically yet purposefully with challenging young people.
*Experience of working successfully as a team member.
*Experience of successfully managing and monitoring the work of others.
*Experience of identifying needs and targeting intervention.
*Experience of a team approach to problem solving.
*Ability to work sympathetically yet purposefully with challenging adults.
*Ability to take the initiative.
*Ability to effectively deploy resources.
*Ability to analyse and interpret data.
*Recent relevant training in working with young people with challenging behaviour.
*An excellent team member.
