Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for enthusiastic and committed people available to work as a behaviour support assistant in an SEMH school in Oldham.

This is a temporary full-time long-term supply role from September 2024 to December 2024 in the first instance.

The Role

Behaviour Support Assistant

Five days a week 8.30am to 3.30pm

Providing support on a one-to-one basis or in small groups

Assisting students with literacy, numeracy, and general subject knowledge

Supporting individuals with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties

Assisting those with mental health needs and anxiety

Provide holistic support based around social, emotional, behavioural, physical, mental & academic progress.

Collaborating with the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers, and other professionals in the child's multidisciplinary team.

The School

Small private SEND school catering for young people aged 11-18 that struggle within mainstream settings and have an EHCP for Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).

The school provides long-term placements for pupils who are disengaged from education, have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion.

Many students who attend are Looked After Children in the care system.

Ofsted 2024 "The school has high expectations for all pupils, including students in the sixth form. Skilled staff ensure that pupils receive support to regulate their feelings when needed…Most pupils achieve well."

To join us and be successful in this Behaviour Support Assistant role, you will need to:

  • a minimum of six week's experience of working with children in the last 3 years supported by references
  • This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional references checks
  • Provide a CV with a full employment/education history included and any employment breaks must be explained
  • Have the legal right to work full time in the UK
