Tradewind are pleased to advertise a part time teaching opportunity at an SEND school for autism in Workington commencing as soon possible!!!
The school are specialised to cater for pupils with autism, and they require a teacher to work with primary OR secondary aged pupils. The pupils are of mixed ability, working from GCSE level but also Functional Skills and ASDAN, whilst also differentiating for pupils working at Key Stage 1 or 2 level.
The role will involve predominantly teaching across different ability secondary aged classes, with a primary focus on improving Maths and English, with topic-based learning being a particular focus too. The position will be on a long term, part-time 0.4 basis, until at least Christmas 2024, with a permanent opportunity potentially becoming available in 2025 for the right candidate!!
The school are open to hiring a primary or secondary trained teacher who has experience of teaching pupils with special needs, and there is flexibility on the two days per week.
The school has fantastic on-site facilities for children with autism, and class sizes are small - with a maximum of 6 pupils per class, and with 2-3 teaching assistants in every classroom too. The SLT and staff pride themselves on providing an environment and curriculum where pupils will be happy.

Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
- Demonstrable experience and passion for teaching pupils with special needs
- Ability to engage and inspire students in a specialised SEN setting
- Are able to demonstrate resilience, patience and a positive approach to behaviour management
- Strong subject knowledge and the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs
- Fully enhanced DBS check
The pay scale for this SEN Teacher position is in line with the Main Pay Scale (MPS) / Upper Pay Scale (UPS), offering a competitive salary based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
