SEN Teaching Assistant - Part-time

Contract Type: Part-time - 2 full days and 3 mornings

About the Role:

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a friendly and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school at the heart of the local community. The successful candidate will work on a 121 basis with a pupil in Year 2 with SEN.

The role is a part-time position from Monday to Friday each week. The hours will be 8.30am-3.30pm on 2 days, and 8.30am-12.30pm for 3 days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Planning and Delivery: Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Support Pupils: Provide tailored support to individual pupils or small groups, ensuring every child reaches their full potential.
  • Classroom Management: Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Assist in assessing pupils' work and providing constructive feedback to support their progress.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Participate in and sometimes lead extra-curricular activities and school events.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to continually improve your skills and knowledge.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Essential:
    • Prior experience working with SEN
    • Experience working in a primary school or young people setting.
    • Understanding of the KS1 national curriculum.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Desirable:
    • Additional qualifications or training relevant to primary education.
    • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
    • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN).
