Deputy SENCo (Secondary)

Deputy SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) - Secondary School located in St Albans - Octorber or Immediate start - Full time basis, with expectation to become permanent - MPS/UPS plus TLR's available (£180 to £250 per day)

About the School: This is a well run school with a supportive and community lead staff team with a common goal. Behaviour is good and SLT offer a supportive and cohesive attitude to work with staff well being at the core. We are looking for someone to support the schools SENCO with their increased workload and are open to applications from those part qualified or unqualified.

Key Responsibilities: A Deputy SENCo here will play a pivotal role in facilitating the inclusion of students with special educational needs within the school community. Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and assessing students with SEN
  • Collaborating with teachers and parents to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Providing guidance and support to teachers in implementing effective teaching strategies
  • Monitoring and tracking the progress of students with SEN
  • Maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring compliance with SEN regulations
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive school culture

Person Specification: The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Part Qualified, or SENCo qualification with relevant certification and experience
  • A deep understanding of SEN regulations and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities
  • An empathetic and patient approach to working with students with SEN
  • A proactive and collaborative team player
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school community
