Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) - 1:1 Support
Location: Chesterfield
Position: Full-Time, Fixed Term until July 2025
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to provide one-to-one support for a child in Year 1 with additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This role is based in a school in Chesterfield and is a fixed-term position until July 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a child in Year 1, adapting learning materials and activities to meet their individual needs.
- Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement strategies that support the child's learning and development.
- Use a calm and patient approach to create a positive learning environment.
- Monitor and record the child's progress, adapting support as needed.
- Assist with daily routines, social interactions, and behaviour management.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), particularly those with ASD.
- A calm, supportive, and empathetic approach to working with children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt to the child's learning style and needs.
Desirable Qualifications:
- A Team Teach qualification would be a significant advantage.
- A Teaching Assistant qualification is not necessary to apply for this role.
