English teacher - Subject Lead - Head of Department

Are you an experienced English Teacher looking for a new opportunity? Would you be interested in shaping a large Academy that's just joined a supportive and trans-formative Academy Trust?

Tradewind are working alongside a well-run secondary academy in Welwyn Garden City for a Subject Lead English Teacher to join their team from January 2025 on a permanent or long term basis. This role provides the chance to inspire, support and ultimately raise teaching standards across the department. With the new backing of a large academy trust the school are looking to interview and appoint teachers with a pragmatic and positive outlook and expedience of developing a team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach English across Key Stages 3 and some 4

• Lead and inspire a team of 4 teachers

• Full teaching responsibilities and a direct input into the running and support of the English team

• Build and Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents

• Ensure the science department meets academic standards and targets

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Engaging and professional personality with experience in English Teaching across key stages 3, 4, and/or 5

• Ideally, 2+ years of experience as an English Teacher

• Good management skills and the ability to inspire pupils from all backgrounds and ability levels

• Passion for teaching and the commitment to student success

• Experience within curriculum development and assessment writing is an advantage

• Willingness to be an active and positive member of the whole school community is advantageous
