Job Title: BSL Communication Support Worker

Are you a skilled British Sign Language (BSL) Communication Support Worker looking for a rewarding role in education? We are recruiting for a passionate professional to join a welcoming Special School in Haringey, providing vital support to deaf and hearing-impaired pupils across both primary and secondary age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored communication support using BSL to ensure pupils have full access to lessons and school life.

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to enhance learning, social, and emotional development.

  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to adapt lessons and resources for deaf students.

  • Promote independence, inclusion, and equal opportunities within the classroom and wider school environment

  • Support pupils in developing confidence, communication skills, and self-advocacy.

  • Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • BSL qualification (minimum Level 2, ideally Level 3 or above).

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with pupils and colleagues.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to inclusive education.
