Tradewind Recruitment are working with a fantastic secondary school in Brent seeking a Social Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position (Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm) - ideal for graduates passionate about social development, inclusion, and supporting students to thrive both academically and personally.
Social Science Graduate Teaching Assistant - Role Overview
Support students with additional learning needs, such as autism, ADHD, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Work closely with the SENCO, Pastoral Team, and external agencies to deliver targeted support and interventions.
Provide one-to-one and small group assistance, helping students build confidence, social skills, and academic progress.
Contribute to creating an inclusive and positive learning environment where every student can succeed.
Encourage students' emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social awareness through positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches.
Gain valuable, hands-on experience relevant to careers in education, social care, youth work, or community development.
Requirements
A recent Social Science graduate (e.g., Sociology, Criminology, Education Studies, Anthropology, Social Policy, or a related field).
A genuine interest in working with young people and supporting those with additional needs.
Empathetic, patient, and resilient approach.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
