Job Title: Secondary School Teaching Assistant (Moving and Handling Experience Essential) - Immediate Start

Do you have experience in moving and handling and the commitment to make a positive difference in a secondary school environment? We're looking for compassionate and skilled Teaching Assistants to join schools across the Wirral, with immediate start opportunities available.

About the Role:

We are seeking full-time Secondary School Teaching Assistants to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4, particularly those with physical or mobility needs. You'll work closely with teachers and SEN staff to ensure all students can access learning safely and comfortably. Your role will involve providing both academic support and physical assistance, helping to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs

  • Knowledge and use of an evacuation chair
  • Safely assist students with mobility, positioning, and personal care as required

  • Implement individual support and care plans under the guidance of SEN staff

  • Support teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management

  • Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere where all students can thrive

  • Monitor and report on student progress, engagement, and wellbeing

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with physical or mobility needs

  • Moving and handling training and experience (essential)

  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Relevant TA qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning)

  • Experience working with students who have complex medical or physical needs

  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and inclusion best practices
