Pastoral Safeguarding Officer - Alternative Provision, Blackpool

An established Alternative Provision in Blackpool is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Safeguarding Officer to join their supportive and dynamic team.

Location: Blackpool

Start Date: ASAP or January 2026

Contract: Full-time, ongoing (temp-to-perm available for the right candidate)

Salary: £100-£145.89 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

As the Pastoral Safeguarding Officer, you'll play a key role in providing emotional and wellbeing support to students, ensuring that safeguarding and pastoral needs are met across the provision. You'll work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, parents, and external agencies to create a safe, positive, and nurturing environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed effectively.
  • Support students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs through 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils to help improve attendance, engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Liaise with external agencies and professionals to provide coordinated support for students and families.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding meetings and reports.

About You

  • Previous experience in a pastoral, safeguarding, or wellbeing role within an education or youth setting.
  • Sound understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection legislation.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Compassionate, resilient, and proactive in supporting young people facing challenges.
  • Relevant training or qualifications in safeguarding, youth work, or education (desirable).
