Year 6 Teacher - SEMH School

We work with various specialist SEMH provisions in Canterbury, supporting pupils who require a highly nurturing, structured, and therapeutic learning environment to thrive academically and emotionally.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, calm, and resilient Year 6 Teacher who can deliver a full curriculum with complete planning, teaching, assessment, and marking responsibilities.
You will:
Plan and deliver engaging Year 6 lessons adapted to pupils with SEMH needs
Provide a nurturing and structured classroom environment
Use trauma-informed and relationship-based approaches
Work closely with support staff to personalise learning
Track and assess progress, producing clear and effective feedback
Support pupils' emotional and social development alongside their academic progress
Work collaboratively with the SENCO, therapists, and wider team
Contribute to a positive, consistent behaviour framework
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies
Participate in whole-school development and CPD
Person Specification:
Hold QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification)
Have experience teaching Key Stage 2
Have experience working in SEMH, SEN or alternative provision - or a strong interest and willingness to learn
Are patient, reflective, emotionally resilient, and child-centred
Can differentiate creatively for a wide range of needs and abilities
Have strong behaviour-support skills and a relational approach
Can plan and deliver high-quality lessons with full marking and assessment
Thrive in a team where communication and consistency are key

Essential:
Have the legal right to work in the UK
Willingness to undergo all necessary background checks, including an Enhanced DBS (child workforce) - support provided. You will need an enhanced Child only DBS on the update service, or be willing to get a new one. A new one costs £62 and we will pay you back the £62 once you have completed 20 days of work for us
