SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Primary Support - Sheffield
Location: Sheffield
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time
Start Date: September

Are you motivated by supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and helping them thrive in school? Tradewind Recruitment is seeking committed SEN Teaching Assistants to offer 1:1 support for primary pupils across several friendly and inclusive schools in the Sheffield area.

Role Overview:

In this role, you will provide personalised support to children with a range of additional needs, such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Behavioural challenges

  • Difficulties with verbal communication

Working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and wider school staff, you will help ensure each child can engage with learning and make meaningful progress.

Key Duties:

  • Deliver 1:1 support tailored to individual pupil needs

  • Assist with classroom learning and adapted tasks

  • Use communication tools such as PECS and visual schedules

  • Encourage pupils' social, emotional, and personal development

  • Respond to and de-escalate challenging behaviours calmly and professionally

You Will Bring:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, especially ASC or behavioural needs

  • Patience, resilience, and a caring approach

  • Flexibility and a proactive mindset

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3) - beneficial but not required

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
