Job Description

We are looking for an outstanding SEND leader to take day-to-day responsibility for curriculum, teaching quality and learner outcomes in our ambitious 14-19 specialist provision for young people with Autism, complex needs, SEMH and MLD/PMLD.

This is a pivotal senior post reporting directly to the Directors. You will:

  • Design and drive a highly personalised, aspirational curriculum that delivers excellent Preparation for Adulthood outcomes (independent living, employability, community inclusion, health)
  • Line-manage and coach teaching staff, curriculum leads and quality/assessment teams
  • Lead quality assurance, observation cycles, CPD and school improvement planning
  • Maintain a part-time teaching timetable in your specialism (to be negotiated)
  • Ensure Ofsted-readiness, statutory compliance and outstanding progress against EHCP outcomes

We need someone who:

  • Has proven senior leadership experience in a special school or complex SEND setting
  • Is passionate about 14-19 curriculum design, accreditation pathways (Functional Skills, Entry Level, GCSE, vocational awards) and real-world learning
  • Excels at raising teaching standards through coaching, modelling and data-driven improvement
  • Brings warmth, high expectations and a relentless focus on every young person achieving their fullest potential
