We're recruiting Pastoral Support Officers to join caring and inclusive secondary schools across Daventry from January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with students who need extra guidance with behaviour, attendance, and emotional wellbeing-helping them grow, achieve, and feel fully supported in school.

About the Role

As a Pastoral Support Officer, you will be central to creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing school environment. You'll work directly with students, staff, and families to remove barriers to learning and ensure every young person has the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group pastoral interventions to support student wellbeing

  • Supporting behaviour and attendance strategies, including daily check-ins and progress tracking

  • Acting as a trusted, approachable adult for students with emotional or behavioural needs

  • Overseeing internal reflection or reset spaces to promote restorative practice

  • Assisting with safeguarding responsibilities and escalating concerns appropriately

  • Building positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies

  • Promoting resilience, inclusion, and respectful behaviour across the school

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working with young people (schools, youth work, mentoring, or similar)

  • A calm, empathetic, and confident approach to behaviour and emotional needs

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion

  • A team player who is passionate about inclusion and student wellbeing

  • Safeguarding knowledge (or willingness to complete training)
