Meet Justin James
Justin is the founding Member and Chief Executive Officer of both the Lion Academy Trust and Lion Education Trusts.
Justin has been a headteacher and executive headteacher for over ten years, an early year’s specialist, dive master and hockey coach. He was approached by the Department of Education in September 2011 to turn Barclay Primary School into a multi-academy trust and assume the role of Chief Executive Officer.
With a history of only ever working in the most difficult schools with complex needs, high deprivation and mobility, and low outcomes, Justin led the formation of the Lion Academy Trust (2011) and the Lion Education Trust (2014) to provide structural solutions and support for schools in need of rapid and sustained improvement.
Since 2012, Justin and his team have sponsored and converted three inner- and outer-London schools, in addition to the new 1,400-place secondary free school, set to open in September 2020. As the Executive Principal of Barclay Primary, Justin oversaw the achievement of the "outstanding" Ofsted judgment in April 2016 and continues to drive standards, aspirations and expectations across all the schools in the Trusts.
During his time overseeing the trusts, all the schools in the group have been rated as either Ofsted Good or Outstanding and are performing well.
Helping you secure a great NQT role - key interview insights & strategies
During his talk, Justin will be explaining:
- What the interview process is
- What Heads are looking for during lesson observations
- What questions Heads will be asking and the top-level answers they are looking for
Justin will also provide inside information that should help give you the edge over other NQTs interviewing. Following the talk, there will be a Q and A session with both Justin and our Permanent Team Consultants.
You can also take advantage of speaking with our consultants on the day to discuss schools that are keen to interview straight away. We already have a huge number of NQT specific vacancies that we will be keen to discuss!
