Our Teacher Registration Process

All teachers and support staff are required to pass our strict vetting procedures in accordance with the REC's 'Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education' guidelines. However, we've made the process as easy as possible for you, our short video below demonstrates how our registration process is as easy as 1,2,3!

Please see below for a more detailed explanation of the registration meeting and documentation:

  • Registration meeting - A sixty minute face to face appointment is arranged to gain an understanding of how you manage behaviour and your knowledge of the UK national curriculum.

  • National Insurance Number and Proof of Address - We authenticate documents and take copies for our records.

  • 2 verified and authenticated references (min) - you must submit two recent professional reference letters or contact details. We contact all referees for to verify their authenticity. We assess references to ensure that our candidates are suitable to work in schools.

  • DBS/ISA - Tradewind applies for an Enhanced Disclosure for all candidates, including overseas teachers. Enhanced DBS certificates are renewed every three years and should there be a three month break in service, a new one will be applied for.

  • List 99 check – We perform a List 99 clearance check for all of our candidates to ensure candidates are not included on the list of known child offenders.

  • Work fitness & occupational health analysis – As part of our teacher registration process our teaching candidates are required to complete a Fitness to Work document.

There are a few additional documents for oversees students:

  • We will require verification of right to work in the UK and Proof of Identity - We sight and copy passport and visas and follow the Prevention of Illegal Working protocol as set out by the UK Border and Immigration Agency.

  • Verified qualifications - We sight and copy all qualification documents to ensure that they meet the UK equivalent standards.

  • Police Check - Police clearance checks need to be issued within 3 months prior to leaving the country outside of the UK. If a police check is not possible then we require a Letter of Good Conduct or a Federal Clearance Check. It is strict protocol that all teaching candidates provide 5 years’ of criminal history.

Original documentation and qualifications are viewed by a member for our specialist Employment Consultants at the initial registration meeting. We inform the prospective school of any outstanding documentation to allow them to make an informed decision, so we advise getting everything in place as soon as possible.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in touch and one of our experienced members of staff will be happy to assist you in whatever query you may have.
