We are working with a SEND school in Bristol, and they are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant/Mentor to work with a female student in Year 11 with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties for 5 days a week ongoing until end of the next academic year. The school is a Specialist provision catering for pupils with BESD and Attachment Disorders. They require this Teaching Assistant to transport the pupil from their home (Keynsham) to the school (Central Bristol) and drop them back after school ends each day. The pupil is a bright student with traumatic history and needs support to adjust to their school and receive emotional and academic support from their mentor. The experience of working with people from similar background or challenges is highly desirable. Understanding of anxiety, ADHD and trauma is highly desirable and almost necessary.

The position will start immediately and will be ongoing for the entire academic year with the possibility of becoming a permanent position.

It will be expected that candidates will have good communication skills and appropriate qualifications to be able to meet these high standards.
Must have:
-Experience with supporting young people with emotional difficulties and trauma in the past
-Their own transport to transport the pupil
-Be willing to get business insurance in their car
-Be willing to commit to support the young person for the entire year.
-Be able to transport the young person in their car morning and afternoon.

Highly Desirable:

-Special Educational Needs Experience in a care or school setting
-Understanding and experience of supporting/teaching young people with attachment disorder and trauma
-Training in Learning Support.
