Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a Learning support assistant with previous experience of supporting students with Autism in Primary phases?

At Tradewind in Bristol, we are looking to recruit a LSA with Autism for a school in Bath. Our client is a small-established school within easy reach of public transport and motorways from Keynsham and Warmley.

-Autism experience
-Teaching assistant experience within a SEN school or a Primary school with a Resource base
-A genuine in Autism and Aspergers
-Use of MAKATON and PECS
-Ability to foresee, manage and deescalate challenging behaviour within lines of school behaviour policy and report on behaviour changes effectively

The role is part-time until Christmas 2020 and will become full-time from January 2021 until end of academic year. Working hours are 0830-1530 Monday to Wednesday to start with. This established school require the right candidate to support their learners with identified Autism to aid them in their emotional and academic development through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and by creating a safe learning environment.

Role of the LSA involves supporting the learners in a group setting inside the classroom. There might be times where support might take place during break times depending on the level of additional needs. It also involves guiding the student emotionally and behaviorally at times of stress and helping them to overcome their barriers to social interaction and mobility. There is great support given in regards to training and guidance.

* Have experience of working with young people or young adults in line with Autism at a school, respite or care setting.
Makaton and PECS training is ideal but not necessary for the right experience in other related settings
* This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
* Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
