Tradewind are recruiting! Are you an LSA or a carer with experience of supporting students with Autism and looking to work within a special needs setting? If you have experience working with children in any capacity or within care settings with learning needs, this might be the job for you!

We are recruiting for this wonderful school, who is looking for a SEN experienced Teaching assistant to support their students with Autism starting in January 2020. The role is full-time, but they are also happy to offer ad hoc temporary supply for a while for the right candidates. This established SEN school requires someone to support their learners in an empathetic, encouraging manner while providing support with communication and behavior. This is a temporary but long-term need and would become a role of one academic year for the right candidates.

School is within easy reach of public transport around Street or with a car from Wells, Bridgwater and Shepton Mallet.

This school might be for you, if some or most of the below apply to you:

-A strong understanding of students with Autism and Aspergers
-Previous care experience with adults or young adults with Autism and Aspergers.
-Familiarity with challenging behaviour arising from Autism.
-Knowledge of MAKATON and signalong.
-Ability to support the student both academically and emotionally in a calm manner
-Adhering to safeguarding and behavioural policies at all times and show adherence to professional boundaries. (Manual handling training is highly desirable)
- A collaborative and driven individual who will be able to take directions from the SENCO and other Education professionals.
-Ability to find creative ways to engage the young people and children.
-Availability to work between 0830-1530 during school term.

This role involves supporting the learners in a group setting inside the classroom and as well as on a 1:1 basis. There might be times where support might take place during break times depending on the level of behavioural needs of the pupils. It also involves guiding the student emotionally and behaviorally at times of stress and helping them to overcome their barriers to social interaction and mobility.

To join us and be successful in this PMLD LSA role you will need to:
* Have experience of working with young people or young adults with physical disabilities.
Be comfortable providing personal care.
Manual handling training is ideal but not necessary for the right experience in other related settings
* This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
* Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
* You must have the legal right to work in the UK
