Tradewind are currently recruiting for an Autism TA (Teaching Assistant) for an outstanding Ofsted rated Special Needs school in North-West London, Brent The role is full time and will commence in January on a long-term basis for the rest of the academic year at least, until July 2021, and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate.



This school in Brent, North-West London, provides for students between ages 5-11 years old with autism (ASD / ASC). Some of the students are non-verbal so communication using PECS/MAKATON is desired. Personal care will be required in most classes, so it is important for the candidate to be comfortable providing personal care.



As a Autism TA, you will also assist in the organisation of class activities and perform 1:1 and group work with students to engage them and ensure their progress. The main responsibility is to support the class teacher during lessons with the educational and social needs of pupils with a range of abilities who follow a curriculum adapted to best meet their needs. There is a focus on developing Social Skills in lessons and also group sessions improving life skills and communication skills.



Pupils can also access Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dramatherapy and a sensory room if needed.



The school is easily accessible via public transport, with links to the Jubilee Line and the Overground. It is also on a number of popular bus routes and has on-site parking for drivers.



Essential requirements:

Experience supporting young people with autism / ASD, Asperger's syndrome or learning difficulties.
Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach.
A caring and professional manner, willing to support with the personal care of pupils.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
