We are looking for three Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants, for for 2 primary schools in Oldham. Both schools have had a huge intake of additional students recently, and now require Behaviour Support Teaching Assistants.
As a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant you will help teachers in the school by providing support to children with behavioural, emotional or psychological difficulties. Although this can be a demanding role, the role of Behaviour Support teaching Assistant is highly rewarding job.
Day to day, your job will involve assisting and helping students in the classroom You will be expected to encourage children to communicate with others, understand instructions and be confident in their learning.
The role of a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant is a special one and in order to succeed as a special needs teaching assistant, you will need a great deal of patience. You will also need to be good at working as a team, and to work alongside teachers, parents and carers.
The ideal candidate will need the following skills:
*Strong behaviour management skills
*Background in youth work/teaching assistant
*Experience teaching students with SEMH and EBD in a mainstream or SEN setting
*Adaptable across subjects and a good general curriculum knowledge
*Patient and nurturing mannerism
*Be enthusiastic and willing to be 'hands on' in and out of the classroom.
*Good sense of humour, approachable and flexible
The role:
*Supporting students with behaviour problems on a 1:1 basis
*Lead intervention sessions on 1:1 basis
*Working collaboratively with class teacher
*A strong, supportive and highly experienced leadership team and governing body
*A good understanding of differentiation and behaviour management
The essentials:
*This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
*Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained
*You must have the legal right to work in the UK
