Tradewind are currently recruiting for a hardworking and experienced SEN teaching assistant/HLTA to work within an Alternative education unit in central Bristol. The role is due to start asap and will continue at least until January 2020. It will involve working as an HLTA Monday to Friday between 0830-1530 hours. As an HLTA you will have extra responsibilities and will deliver some sessions prepared by the teacher at times to small groups or individual students.

Main duties will be:
Leading small groups of pupils or whole classes.
Establish relationships with other professionals or agencies to support work of pupils.
Attending staff meetings and contributing to the development of the school.


The school is an established school in Bristol, catering for Secondary aged students with ADHD and BESD. It is in Central Bristol within walking distance from St George, St Philips, Temple Meads, City Centre and Gloucester road. The school has private parking on the school grounds. It is a small school with an experienced strong SLT and large support staff.

Class size has a capacity of maximum 8 pupils and there is a high ratio of support staff per pupil, as well as other behavioural support rotating between the classes.

School has a very experienced SEN support team as well as a supportive and hands-on approachable SLT.

Essential requirements:

Experience of supporting Secondary aged students with emotional and behavioural difficulties
Experience of managing challenging behaviour
Confidence to deliver some sessions of PSHE and general studies
