We are currently recruiting for an experienced teaching assistant who is qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or 3.

Tradewind are working with an all-through special educational needs school in North Birmingham dedicated to providing support to those with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), complex physical disabilities and medical conditions.

We are looking for an experienced BSL Trained Teaching Assistant to provide specialist 1:1 support to a pupil of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is a full-time role to start ASAP, 8:50am-3:50pm.

Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs, utilising your BSL skills to facilitate communication and understanding.

Assist the student with accessing the curriculum, engaging in learning activities, and developing essential skills.

Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and strategies tailored to the student's unique needs and abilities.

Support the student's social and emotional development, promoting inclusion and positive relationships within the school community.

Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic support and intervention for the student.

Requirements:

BSL Level 2 qualification or higher, with proficiency in using sign language to communicate effectively.

Previous experience working in a 1:1 capacity with students with special educational needs, preferably in a special school setting.

Understanding of the diverse needs of students with special educational needs and a commitment to inclusive education.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to supporting students with special educational needs.
