Location: Mainstream Secondary School, Harrow
Weeks: All year round
Hours: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday (7am to 3pm), year-round with flexibility required to cover the School's seasonal requirements, including weekend shifts.
Salary: Circa SCP 37 which is £25,349.4 per annum, depending on skills and experience
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Caretaker to join our dynamic Grounds team on a permanent basis at our mainstream Secondary School in Harrow. As a Caretaker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality grounds maintenance service to the School playing fields, ensuring a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment for our students and staff.
About the School:
The School is located in Harrow-on-the-Hill, and our sports grounds that cover 28 acres of diverse landscapes, including sports fields, lawns, tree lines, buildings, and car parks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Grounds team to perform planned maintenance, including the use of heavy machinery, general grounds work, tree care, security, event set-ups, building checks, and machinery upkeep
- Employ basic labouring and general grounds maintenance skills to ensure the School's grounds are well-maintained and presentable
- Possess knowledge and experience in sports turf maintenance or hold relevant chemical license qualifications (advantageous)
- Demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills while liaising with staff, pupils, parents, contractors, and other third-party users of the School's facilities
- Exhibit flexibility in working hours, accommodating seasonal requirements and occasional weekend shifts
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment while adhering to health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance or a related field is desirable
- Possession of basic labouring and general grounds maintenance skills
- Relevant sports turf or chemical license qualifications would be advantageous
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clean and valid driving license
