Cover Supervisor

Tradewind Recruitment are looking to appoint a Cover Supervisor to join an 11-18 academy in Bexley in November 2020.

With nearly 2000 students aged between 11 and 18, this academy is a busy and vibrant place. The academy serves a predominantly urban catchment area, which includes Belvedere, Welling and Sidcup, among others. It is a large and oversubscribed academy, who pride themselves on knowing their students well and doing their best to ensure everyone fulfils their potential.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide supervision of students within a secondary school. You will need to respond to questions, generally assist students to undertake set activities and to uphold standards of behaviour in the classroom. In addition to cover needs, there will also be a requirement to work alongside existing staff in specific curriculum areas providing general support for departments. The Cover Supervisor is a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school and the successful applicant must be IT literate and competent in using a variety of software packages.

The most successful Cover Supervisors come from a variety of backgrounds and have a natural ability to build rapport with children. You will be authoritative, yet approachable, friendly but professional. Traditionally, candidates from sports coaching backgrounds, academics tutors, former army/navy workers, youth workers and summer camp counsellors have always performed well. Essentially, Cover Supervisors must have the passion and drive to work with young people. This role is also perfect for anyone considering a career in teaching.

Outcomes at both KS4 and KS5 were well above national expectations in both attainment and progress at this academy and a huge variety of extra-curricular activities were available to students from after school clubs to day trips, to sports/musical events, Duke of Edinburgh weekends to week long residentials abroad.

To be successful in this role you will:
*Be enthusiastic about education and helping children to be the best they can be.
*Have some previous experience of working with children in some capacity - this does not have to be within a school setting
*Be willing to apply for an Enhanced DBS disclosure, Overseas Police Clearance (if applicable) and professional reference checks.
*Have a CV that covers the last 10 years of employment history where possible and any employment breaks must be explained.
*Have the legal right to work in the UK.
