As a cover supervisor you will be responsible for teaching a number of subjects, across multiple departments. All of the planning will be left for you, and it will be your responsibility to deliver this, and to effectively manage the behaviour of the students in the classroom. Student behaviour is generally good within the school, but a strong practitioner in regards to behaviour management would be viewed favourably. Due to performing across a number of different subject areas, a practitioner with a broad subject knowledge would be ideal for this role. You will not be asked to cover Design Technology or Physical Education, unless you have experience within these areas.
The school itself is a school in the heart of it's community, and prides itself in it's inclusivity and belief that every child matters. The school caters for students between 11-18 years old. The school is looking for a candidate who shares their ethos. This is a school we have worked with for a number of years, and are extremely welcoming to supply staff and to temporary staff members. You will be given ID badges and be put onto SIMS, and will be treated like a full time member of staff. Caring deeply about keeping staff and students safe, you will be inducted into their COVID procedures before teaching any lessons, and the school will ensure you feel safe and secure in the classrooms.
There may be some instances were cover is not needed, and instead that you will be needed in a support capacity. In these instances you will be working as a teaching assistant, helping to support teachers carry out their lessons. Experience working as a teaching assistant is also desirable for this role, but is by no means essential.
