Tradewind are recruiting! Are you a passionate and enthusiastic DT Teacher in the Hillingdon area of West London who has experience working with young people with a range of special educational needs?

Tradewind are currently recruiting for a DT Teacher to work at a Special Needs secondary school in Hillingdon, West London teaching small classes from KS3-KS5 with learning difficulties. The role is full time and will start in January 2021 for the rest of the academic year in the first instance and will most likely become permanent for the right candidate.



The role is to plan and teach DT lessons, specifically focussing on resistant materials RM and woodwork, to small classes with a maximum of 10 students with a range of learning difficulties. Classes learn at a range of levels from entry level to GCSE level so there are a mix of lower and higher abilities so experience planning and leading lessons for students with a range of needs and abilities is crucial. You would be supported by Teaching Assistants and a DT Technician during every lesson to help students engage in the curriculum.



The school is a Good Ofsted rated school providing for students with EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) aged 11-19 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autistic Spectrum Conditions (Autism / ASC), Physical Impairments, Social Emotional Mental Health needs (SEMH), Communication Disorders and or Genetic Conditions.



There is a Multi disciplinary team at the school who will work collaboratively with you including teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, physios, educational psychologists and parents etc. which will help integrate clinical interventions across all aspects of the curriculum ensuring that pupils can access and engage in learning which will help them to reach their full potential.



The school is easily accessible by a number of popular bus routes and is a short bus journey to 2 nearby tube and overground stations.



Essential requirements:

QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
Experience teaching DT, specifically RM to students with special educational needs in the UK.
Experience planning and teaching lessons to secondary aged students within an SEN setting is crucial.
Enthusiastic, positive and friendly approach.
Must have legal right to work in the UK.
