Design Technology Teacher
Design Technology Teacher
Tradewind are working with a good school in Hull, who are looking to recruit a Design Technology teacher from the start of the academic year, initially until January 2021 (this may be subject to change). The original plan was for this position to start after May half term, but this has changed due to the current situation with schools in the UK. The start date has been pushed back to September 2020, as to allow as much time as possible for things to stabilise. If the school situation progresses quicker than expected, there may be potential for this position to start earlier that September 2020, however this is impossible to know at the current time. Senior leadership from the school are still contactable via email, so applicants will still be kept in the loop about proceedings, it just may be slightly slower than usual! The position is a full time Design Technology teaching position that is covering a period of absence due to a maternity leave. This is a department that is extremely organised, and the subject leader has a wealth of resources to share, meaning planning for this position will be minimal. While this position is to cover a maternity leave, there is potential for this to become a permanent position, depending on the staffing situation at the school in the new academic year. All planning and marking associated with a teaching position will be expected for this role, and as such the successful candidate can expect pay that is reflected in this. We are willing to hear from candidates with any Design Technology specialism, but the school has a preference for a candidate who is able to teach Resistant Materials to Key Stage 4 students, and who has the ability to teach Food Technology to Key Stage 3 students. You will not be expected to teach year 11, but there will be year 10 on the timetable.
Successful candidates can expect to earn between £120.00 and £183.00 per day for this position, depending on qualifications and experience. As you will be paid to scale for this position, you will be expected to attend any parents evenings that the school are running, and you will be treated as a permanent member of staff, with PPA time and free periods for planning and marking purposes. Ideally we are looking for a practitioner who is fully qualified with QTS, but of course we will be interested in hearing from practitioners who are qualified in the FE sector, with experience teaching students in the 11-16 age range.
The school itself is a wonderful school that really is in the heart of the community. The school believes in more than just progress for progress sake, and work extremely hard to promote wellbeing and further opportunities to the students in their community. The opportunity to participate beyond timetabled hours will be plentiful in this school (but not expected), so we welcome applications from teachers who share the believe to promote development in the students in their care. The schools timetabled hours are between 8:45AM and 3:30PM. There is ample space in the car park for practitioners who drive, and there is a regular bus route from the Hull City centre for practitioners who don't drive. We are looking for practitioners who have experience teaching Design Technology to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students.
* Delivering Key Stage 3 and 4 Design Technology (any specialism at Key Stage 4, but preferably resistant materials)
* Planning lessons in line with the national curriculum
* Marking in line with the national curriculum
