Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Director of Learning with a specialisation in English to join our dedicated team at a secondary school in the B42 area. This is a full-time, long-term position with an immediate start date, though we are willing to delay for the ideal candidate. The role is expected to continue through September and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the English curriculum, ensuring it meets the educational standards and needs of our students.
  • Teaching Excellence: Demonstrate outstanding teaching practices, inspiring and engaging students in the subject of English.
  • Staff Development: Provide guidance and professional development to English teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.
  • Student Achievement: Monitor and support student progress and achievement in English, implementing strategies to address any areas of concern.
  • Resource Management: Efficiently manage departmental resources, including budget allocations, teaching materials, and technology.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, caregivers, and the wider community to support student learning and development.
  • Compliance: Ensure the department adheres to all relevant educational policies, standards, and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in English or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant teaching qualifications (e.g., PGCE) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Proven experience in teaching English at the secondary level, with a strong track record of improving student outcomes.
  • Leadership: Previous experience in a leadership or management role within an educational setting is preferred.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both students and staff.
  • Organisation: Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Commitment: A passionate commitment to student learning and development, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
