The Post is for a full time teacher of DT - RM (KS3-4)
Note: A-Level teaching opportunities along with a TLR may be available to the right candidate.
Salary: Inner London Pay Spine Proposed
Start Date: 1st September 2020 (Possible handover in July)
Suitable candidate:
*An enthusiastic teacher at any stage of their career who has a genuine passion for DT.
*A fully qualified DT, RM teacher who enjoys working as part of a highly effective team.
*Someone available to start in September 2020 (with a possible handover in March)
The ability to teach a second or third subject, preferably Graphics, Product Design or Food tech is desirable (but not an essential requirement).
Our client is a very successful and oversubscribed boys' comprehensive school, with a large 6th form, located in Merton. GCSE results (including English and Maths) are outstanding which reflects both the ability of the boys and the high quality staff in all departments. They have been acknowledged as one of the top 100 nonselective state funded schools in England.
The site is open and spacious with large playing fields. It is well served by road and public transport.
Many staff live in the outer suburbs and countryside as well as in the locality. London Transport tube stations, tram and British Rail are within easy walking distance. Local bus services are efficient and there is ample car parking space for all teaching and support staff within the grounds.
The Design Technology department in particular is very modern and has been recently upgraded with state of the art machinery and new equipment.
Full time technicians are employed to support staff and pupils in both the Food kitchens and RM workshops.
Expectations are high at this outstanding boys school and students are challenged to achieve their full potential, both inside and outside the classroom. They aim to create a stimulating environment where students behave responsibly and contribute fully as they develop a clear sense of belonging to the school community. High academic attainment of students has been recognised and commended by OFSTED.
The school are currently seeking to appoint a new teacher of DT for next term if not sooner, someone who places raising boys' achievement at the heart of their educational aspirations.
They encourage all staff to deliver their best and provide support to both those new to the profession with an established NQT induction programme, as well as those seeking advancement in the profession.
