SEN Teaching Assistant

SANZA Teaching Agency are supporting a warm and welcoming 2-form entry primary school in Harrow. They are seeking an active, dynamic teaching assistant to join their team ASAP.

The role will be supporting in the early years mainstream class in the mornings, and the afternoons will be spent working in the onsite SEN provision supporting students with Autism/complex needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning of children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), as well as assisting the class teacher with various tasks and activities. You will also be required to support children with special educational needs (SEN).

The school has on-site parking and is located close to the Metropolitan Line tube station.

Requirements of the role:

  • Assisting the class teacher in preparing and delivering lessons in the EYFS
  • Supporting children with their learning and development
  • Providing feedback to the class teacher on children's progress
  • Preparing learning resources and materials
  • Helping with the supervision of children during break times
  • Supporting students with SEN (mainly Autism and complex needs)
  • Working with children on a 1:1 and small group basis

About you:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working in a primary school, preferably in the EYFS
  • A good understanding of the EYFS curriculum
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs
